About Us...
An effective regional
voice
The importance of regional communities cannot be understated. We provide the electricity, food, materials and space
for recreation used by city and country people. We provide the produce,
transportation and beauty that promotes our country across the world.
We also pay significantly higher fuel and
energy costs, do not enjoy comparable levels of service for other
infrastructure and feel we have been let down by ill-informed policy advice from (in the case of Melbourne), Spring Street.
Some MPs claim to
represent regional Victoria, but live and work out of Melbourne - why
?
Unlike the other major parties, Country
Alliance is dedicated solely to the interests of regional communities, and
setting policies to address the imbalance that has come about with the influence of 'urban greenies'.
You cannot fish from a beach in a marine park.
There is increasing pressure to lock up more land as national parks, yet all that does is fuel more bushfires. Decisions affecting what happens in regional Victoria are being made in the city.
These are the sorts of issues Country
Alliance is committed to addressing.
History
Country Alliance was formed out of concerns among various interest
groups.
A series of meetings in the first half of
2004 led to a commitment to proceed with the formation of Country
Alliance. This work has continued through 2005 to register Country Alliance as a political party. Country Alliance contested the 2006 Victorian State Election in three of the eight upper house regions. Its preferences were critical in keeping a fourth Greens candidate out of parliament in the Western Victoria Region, and appear to have also been critical in denying a fifth Greens candidate from being elected in the Northern Victoria Region. The party now has a fully elected executive and is preparing for the 2010 Victorian State Election.

Future Goals
Country Alliance will go into bat for every person who lives, works or
regularly visits in regional Victoria.
Equality with the city, tradition and
participation in key policy decisions are at the top of our core values.
