Multiple Use Forests
Attempts by a coalition of Forest Users and local people to influence forest management policies and outcomes are focussed upon the following objectives:
- To ensure that, where appropriate, forests are managed as Multiple Use Forests for the widest public benefit and interest;
- To ensure that the timber production and minor forest products continue to be available at sustainable levels from certain forests and that forest management policies aim to ensure that these levels are maintained or enhanced at sustainable levels and the equitable licencing systems support this; and
- To ensure that sustainable and responsible recreational use is maintained as a fundamental right.
